LEAF Centro Educativo para Padres

The LEAF Centro Educativo para Padres offers a unique opportunity to Latinx families in East San Jose to guide and support their students to and through college and enter a career pathway. We provide consistent, evidence-based, multidisciplinary, culturally competent parent engagement and family programming to equip parents and guardians with essential tools and resources.

Our program is designed to build trusting relationships between parents, students, college administrators, and the LEAF Team. As students and families navigate higher education, the center delivers immediate support to families on their most pressing needs.

We Provide.

LEAF strongly believes that parent involvement during the student's college experience impacts their adjustment to college, identity development, psychological well-being, educational and financial outcomes and college behaviors.

The LEAF Scholarship fosters the partnership between parents and students as they navigate higher education focusing on these key components:

College Readiness Workshops

  • Workshops are designed to guide families as they navigate the transition to college, academic preparedness, financial aid, mental health support, the transfer process, and career exploration.

  • We provide guidance and resources to bridge parents with on-campus and CBO partner support services.

Individual and Small Group Support

  • LEAF supports families on a regular and individualized basis in order to

    • Promote the growth of a family college-going mindset

    • Build and foster students' positive self-esteem

    • Understand and promote social-emotional learning

  • Our regular contact with families encourages consistent engagement between students and parents

Parent-to-Parent Support

  • Support and training to community parents to become influential advocates and leaders for educational impact.

  • Connection to each other, in order to foster culturally competent support and guidance
